I Should Have Known Its My Age
Probably a stupid question, but do fish float when they die and then sink
after awhile, or can they sink on dying. The reason I ask is that over the
Winter I had 26 fish in the pond and I'm down to what looks like 18 or so.
I've had a couple of "floaters" but I can't see the "missing" fish.

Seems to be variable. I've found some floating, some as a semi-skeleton at
the bottom, and one on the lawn*! And I've also have fish that have 'gone
missing' for a considerable period, and then turned up again. They must have
been either very good at skulking at the bottom of the pond, or taking
advantage of low cost airfares to visit relatives.

*First I thought it was a cat or similar that was responsible, but then
later I saw a fish jump out of the pond onto the lawn, flip a couple of
times, and finally flip back in. Had it flipped the wrong way, it would have
ended up like the other one, had I not been there.
